A hockey player from The high school were paralyzed during the game in December who has been featured Sports Illustrated magazine in this weeks.
Minneapolis hockey mom and freelance writer Karen Schneider suggests that before 16 year old Jack Jablonski was checked from behind, Minnesota hockey was ravaged by overzealous coaches, win at all costs coaches, and officials who looked the other way. But after the injury and the adoption of stricter rules, Schneider says she noticed a far less physical game.
While not everyone agrees the game is less physical, many do.
Schneider says the refocusing on skill and finesse is a direct result of the Jablonski accident.
