Four firemen have been suspended for death of woman in mock drill. The fire department has told NDTV that there are no standard operating procedure in place for fire safety drills in Bangalore.
The 25 year old woman died after falling from the third floor in a mock drill on Friday. The incident led to shock and anger.
Four officers including, two of Fire officers Devaraju and K. Narayanaswamy and two of Fire Station officers Nisar Ahmed and Marianna were suspended after a Fire Department probe yesterday into the incident.
Infant said that the four officers were suspended for not following standard operating norms while conducting drills. “They should have tested the quality of the rope before using it for the mock drill,” he said.
Infant also said that The officials should have arranged for enough cushions at various points on the ground for safety.
However, police sources have told NDTV that the rope she was using to climb down could have given way causing the victim's death.
