9th Circuit Court of Appeals - A federal appeals court in California smash down Proposition 8 on narrow grounds today, They banned same sex marriage in the state of california was unconstitutional. The most famous gay couples appealed to the better angels to their twitter followers.
Court said that Prop 8 serves no purpose and has no effect other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gays and lesbians in California and to officially re-classify their relationship and families as inferior to those of opposite-sex couples.
Judge Stephen Reinhardt wrote for the majority of a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and said Constitution simply does not allow for laws of this sort.
Reinhardt said the court was deciding the issue on the narrow grounds.
Reinhardt also said the ruling is really only for those states like California that basically treat same sex couples same as opposite sex couples in every way except marriage.
